(1) No.496 meeting

Date: July 20-22, 2005

Place: Hotel Daisetsu, Kamikawacho, Hokkaido

This meeting was held under the co-sponsorship of the IEICE professional groups on AP. Five papers relevant to the field of URSI-F were presented. Those include topics on indoor base-station-polarization diversity effects, fast prediction method of indoor field intensity distribution, measurement of 5GHz indoor MIMO-OFDM propagation characteristics, instability problem in control for MIMO eigen-mode transmission under Rayleigh fading environment, and analysis of moving velocity of rain area and weather front from multi-point observations of satellite waves.

(2) No.497 meeting

   Date: September 9,2005

Place: Japan Telecom, Tokyo

Three papers were presented, including those on accuracy of location estimation of mobile

terminals in broadband mobile systems, phase distribution characteristics in narrowband mobile propagation channels and their applications, and analysis of polarization characteristics in urban areas by ray-tracing technique.

(3) No.498 meeting

   Date: October 20-21, 2005

   Place: Akita Prefectural University, Urihonjo

This meeting was held under the co-sponsorship of the IEICE professional groups on AP. Four papers relevant to the field of URSI-F were presented. Those include topics on evaluation of radar tracking error due to tropospheric duct, propagation parameter estimation using three-dimensional array, evaluation of MIMO E-SDM transmission characteristics based on indoor propagation experiments, transmission capacity analysis of terminal MIMO antenna taking account of three-dimensional angular spectrum, polarization and userfs body, indoor base-station-polarization diversity effects, and MIMO-STBC inter-vehicle communication system in non-line-of-sight propagation environments at crossings.

(4) No.499 meeting

   Date: November 18, 2005

Place: Tokyo University of Technology, Hachioji

Two papers were presented on 5GHz mobile propagation characteristics on paths exceeding 10 km in lengths, and 32 GHz rain attenuation characteristics for FWA in down town Tokyo. Technical tour of the Ubiquitous IT Research Center in the campus of Tokyo University of Technology was also carried out.

(5) No.500 meeting (Special meeting)

   Date: December 16, 2005

   Place: NICT, Koganei

The 500th meeting was held as special meeting for celebrating the long-standing and fruitful activities of the domestic URSI-F community dated back to the first meeting in February 1954. In the meeting which started with the congratulatory message from the NICT vice-president, seven presentations by invited speakers were made, which include summary report of recent domestic URSI-F activities, and recent trends and future prospects of major research topics of propagation and remote sensing related to URSI-F. After the meeting, the celebration party was held in the same venue.

(6) No.501 meeting

   Date: January 26-27, 2006

Place: Fukuoka Institute of Technology, Fukuoka

This meeting was held under the co-sponsorship of the IEICE professional groups on AP. Six papers relevant to the field of URSI-F were presented. Those include topics on propagation characteristics inside building separated by concrete walls, propagation characteristics of curved corridors inside buildings, FVTD simulation of radio propagation along rough surfaces, analysis of shadowing effects due to intervening vehicle in inter-vehicle propagation, prediction of delay spread and number of effective paths in broadband propagation, and improvement of estimation accuracy of tree height in remote sensing of forest.
